Cluster of Horsehoof Fungus (c) 2008 Aileen Urquhart
Record shot of Green Woodpecker (female)
Record shot of Willow Warbler
Our first visit of this year to an old favourite. Unfortunately, we had drizzle through quite a bit of both sessions, so birdsong was affected. Nevertheless, we had good views of Willow Warbler, Chiffchaff and we heard Blackcap, Great Spotted, Green and possibly Lesser Spotted Woodpecker. Yes, you don't have one for 35 years, and then 2 crop up almost one after another - just like buses! We heard both Willow Tits and Marsh Tits, so this is one location at which they do co-exist. We had a Jay and Treecreeper in the afternoon, and Shelduck & Moorhen in the morning. Species total: 37 (excluding the doubtful Lesser Spotted Woodpecker). I got back home to find 3 Bramblings in the garden (taken through glass). Also included is a Blackcap taken in the garden 3 days ago!
