Today's venue was changed again because of the unpredicatable weather, which this time was warranted. If we had stayed with Plan A we may have been sucked up by a tornado & been hit by giant hailstones! Instead we had a great day at Tophill Low with lengthy sightings of a Water Vole (pm) and a fairly good look at a Grass Snake (am). There were plenty of birds with the highlight being 3 Little Gulls (one in summer plumage), Common Terns with 5 newly-hatched chicks, & family of Grey Wagtails. We also had close views of Sedge Warbler, Reed Warbler, Wigeon, Teal, Shelduck, Oystercatcher, Little Ringed Plover; and ducks going into eclipse: Shoveler, Mallard, Gadwall etc. A few interesting butterflies managed to sneak out between the showers. When's this fantastic hot summer turning up?
