Purple Heron

The weather forecast was terrible today, so we had to drop the lovely Yorkshire Wolds for Tophill Low.  It rained heavily all morning, but we did see the Purple Heron.  It spent most of the morning crouching.  It disappeared many times behind thick vegetation.  In the afternoon we arrived not long after the rain had stopped and about 10 minutes after the last person had vacated the hide.  In the absence of anyone the Purple Heron had moved very close to the hide, but it moved away, but was still closer than it had been in the morning.
